AUSTIN -- State Representative Four Price was honored with a Distinguished Service Award by the Texas State Athletic Trainers' Association for his contributions on behalf of the safety and well-being of student athletes throughout Texas.

"I am honored to receive this very special award from this admirable and well-respected association," Price said. "The real champions for athletic safety are all of the athletic trainers across our great state who selflessly devote their careers to the betterment of sports by preventing, diagnosing and treating injuries, and also by saving lives."

Price introduced House Resolution 1021, recognizing March 21, as Texas State Athletic Trainers' Association Legislative Day at the State Capitol.

During the 82nd legislative session, Price championed a bill, known as Natasha's Law, to help protect student athletes from the effects of dangerous sports-related concussions. Natasha's Law requires athletes who sustain head injuries during practice or games to be medically evaluated and cleared by a doctor before returning to athletic activity.

"Last session, I had the privilege of working on landmark student athlete concussion prevention legislation, now known as Natasha's Law, and it is a true pleasure to continue this important work on behalf of student athletes, their parents, coaches and athletic trainers," Price said.
