Reporter Enrique Rangel Texas House Speaker Joe Straus has appointed Amarillo’s Rep. Four Price to the Energy Council, a legislative body of members from 11 states, five Canadian provinces and Venezuela. The council is a forum to discuss energy policies and to exchange ideas regarding the production of energy. “I am pleased to appoint Rep. Four Price to the Energy Council,” Straus said in a statement. “His experience on the House Natural Resources Committee and his careful attention to the policy issues surrounding oil and gas and renewable will provide a much-needed Texas perspective in this role.” The Dallas-based council was created in 1975 following the energy crisis triggered by the Arab oil embargo of 1973, which created fuel shortages and long lines at gas stations across the nation. Council members meet throughout the year.
