AUSTIN -- State Representative Four Price says he has filed a bill to extend prison sentences for repeat child abusers and those who abuse the elderly and disabled.

Currently, convicts in this category serve their time concurrently, meaning, for example, two 10-year terms can be served in just one 10-year period.

Price's bill calls for judges to be allowed to have the terms served consecutively, instead.

Price says his similar bill unanimously passed the House in 2011, but it didn't reach the Senate in time for a vote.

The 2013 Texas legislative session starts January 8.
