'Grass-roots efforts' lift Price

The Republicans trying to become state District 87 representative spoke of similar visions for the future, but voters gave the primary election too Walter "Four" Price IV, with 55.1 percent of the vote, according to unofficial totals.

His opponent, Victor Leal, captured 44.8 percent of the vote.

"The hard work we undertook the last month was the difference-maker," Price said. "We used a lot of grass-roots efforts, we knocked on a lot of doors and focused on what is important to the people."

Price remembers the campaign as intense and fast-moving but smooth. The district seat they are running for serves Carson, Moore, Potter and Sherman counties. The next step is the general election, and I want to continue to focus on my being pro-business, strengthening public education and keeping taxes low, Price said.
