Final Day for General House Bills

Friday, May 10th marks an important deadline for the 83rd Texas Legislative Session: it is the last day for the House of Representatives to consider general House bills on the floor. Local House bills and Senate bills continue to be heard.

House members filed 4,079 bills and joint resolutions this session.  As of Tuesday, May 7th, House committees passed approximately 1,757 bills and joint resolutions; the full House passed 669 bills and joint resolutions.

I filed 28 bills this session, and more than a dozen of my bills have passed in the House and are now in the Senate for consideration. Some are on their way to the Governor’s desk. It is a privilege to work for my constituents and Texas on many considerable issues, from healthcare to public safety.

As the close of this regular session approaches (May 27th) lawmakers have just 17 days left consider and pass legislation. Please stay connected to my Facebook Page and follow me on Twitter for updates.
